Lobi boss, Dominic Iorfa, with his League Managers gong as Best Coach of the Year.
Lobi Stars supremo, Dominic Iorfa, has entered the history
books as the first Nigerian to earn the CAF Accreditation Coaching License
after participating at the first-ever workshop organised by the Confederation
of African Football (Caf) for coaches who will lead teams in the continent this
year.
Iorfa was the only Nigerian coach at the inaugural workshop
held in Cairo, Egypt.
"It was a nice programme and I was able to interact
with other coaches from Africa," the former Super Eagles striker told
iorfaonline.blogspot.com
The former Nigerian striker will be in the dugout when the Makurdi
based Lobi Stars compete in the 2013 Caf Confederation Cup.
It’s not the first time the former striker will be achieving
a rare feat.
As a player, he was the first African to play in Turkey and
the only Nigerian from the domestic league to play in England’s defunct First
Division.
At the end of the three-day programme, each participant was
presented with the CAF Accreditation Coaching License.
iorfaonline.blogspot.com learnt that top Africa coaches like
Moroccan legend, Ezzaiki " Zaki" Badou (Wydad Casablanca) and TP
Mazembe coach, Lamine Ndiaye also participated in the course.
According to workshop organizer Abdel Moneim Hussein the
coaches who could not make it to Cairo for the workshop can still earn their
accreditation licenses through arrangements with their national associations
running similar courses.
From 2013, CAF will only allow coaches with CAF accredited
coaching licenses to enter the field of play during its inter-club
competitions.
