The 2013 Federation Cup takes centrestage in Nigeria on Sunday
and the duo of Enyimba and Warri Wolves are expected to parade their top stars
for the big event.
However, several top stars will be missing in action. In this report, ojeksaikhoje.blogspot.com profiles the stars who will watch from the stands as their teams take to the battle ground.
Enyimba
Victor Ezeji
Ezeji needs no introduction for his records in the Cup competition.
From 2004 through 2007, Ezeji won three-editions of the defunct Coca-Cola FA Cup with Dolphins and was voted Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the 2006 edition.
The forward also won the Golden Boot in 2006. Interestingly, Ezeji won consecutive finals win Dolphins in 2006 and 2007.
The forward who is the most decorated player in the domestic scene arrived Enyimba as a free agent during the mid-season break, which makes him unavailable for what would have been his fourth final.
Bishop Onyeudo
Onyeudo arrived as a mid-season signing from Gombe United after
emerging as one of the revelations of the seasons.
Onyeudo scored eight goals at Gombe and has added four at Enyimba
to underscore his importance. The Aba fans are excited he didn’t leave his
scoring boots in the North.
Having played some Cup matches at Gombe, the tallest man at
Enyimba is Cup tied and can’t feature in what would have been his first-ever
final.
Emeka Nwanna
Fondly called “Ayaya”, the forward is rolling back the years
after his mid-season move to Enyimba as a free agent. Ayaya was a Cup winner with Enyimba in 2005.
No doubt, Nwanna’s space has reduced, but he brings experience to the Enyimba side.
Daniel Etor
Etor has brought more creativity to the Enyimba squad since his
arrival during the mid-season. The club will miss his contributions in what will their biggest match of the season.
Yarhere started the season at Enugu Rangers, but has returned to his parent club, Warri Wolves.
On a good day, you can count on him to deliver in front of goals.
Since he started the Cup
race at Rangers, Yarhere won’t be part of Wolves’ biggest match in the
competition.
Michael Egbeta
The return of Egbeta to his parent club, Warri Wolves rules him
out of Sunday’s Cup final.
